THE THIRD ANNUAL

OK, Chili Heads, here's the deal....

With the Competition entry fee, all teams will be enter in the competition chili, the people's choice and showmanship competitions. 

With just the People's Choice entry, teams will be entered in the People's Choice and Showmanship competitions.

Competition Chili

Ya'll read this real careful now.

1. Teams must file an Entry Form with the Abita River Chili Cook Off Coordinator and the $50 entry fee.  Make checks payable to "Town of Abita Springs Chili Cook Off".
2. Chili teams must arrive at the chili cook off location in time to start their Competition Chili preparation by 10 AM.  Grounds will be open and registration will begin at 8 AM.
3. Each team will be assigned a 10' x 10' preparation area.  If ya need more room, well....that'll cost ya.
4. Teams are encouraged, urged, and otherwise motived to decorate their area and themselves. Ya know it is halloween!!  A trophy for showmanship will be awarded (Unless ya scare the judges off).  (See rules for showmanship)
5. Teams must supply all chili ingredients, equipment and fuel.  Electricity may or not be available on site.  Generators will be allowed.
6. All preparation for the Competition Chili must be done on site and from scratch.  Scratch means starting with raw meat and regular spices.  But ya can't start till I tells ya!!Canned tomatoes and sauce are allowed.
7. No team will start preparation or cooking before the official signal to start.  Beer drinking may begin at any time.
8. Chili must be prepared out in the open for all to see and as sanitary as possible.  (wash your hands!!!)
9. Hand in time for Compitetion Chili will be 4 hours after the official signal to start.
10. Each team must provide 2 quarts of chili for the judges to sample.  (Bribes are not allowed)
11. All Competition Chili teams MUST provide 1 gallon of People's Choice Chili in addition to the 1 quart required for submission to the judges.  (See People's Choice Rules).  Each team will automatically be entered into the People's Choice category.
    
12. All registered teams are encouraged to ridicule and otherwise harass other teams in an attempt to make them cry.

People's Choice Chili

1. Teams entering ONLY People's Choice must file an entry form with the Abita River Chili Cook Off Coordinator and the $20 entry fee.  Make checks payable to "Town of Abita Springs Chili Cook Off".  
2. Each team must prepare 1 gallon of chili for tasting by the people.
3. People's Choice Chili may be prepared before competition day.
4. People's Choice may contain beans or other fillers.  (but no dirt)
5. Winner of the People's Choice Award will be based on the ballots turned in by the people.

Showmanship

1. Nudity and lewdness is banned.  (that's no fun!!) Have fun with it as best you can with your clothes on.
2. The winner will be based on originality, costumes, booth setup and crowd appeal.
3. Beer and whiskey drinking is encouraged. (just ask those Buckshot Boys!)
